acupressureAcupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers, thumbs and elbows to skilfully press key points, which stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. The same as an acupuncturist but without the needles. When these trigger points are pressed, they release muscular tension, and promote circulation of blood, and the body’s life force energy to aid healing. It is used to relieve a variety of symptoms and pains.

Acupressure is not restricted to any one group and can be used to treat people with a wide range of conditions.  Its gentle style and ability to stimulate the natural healing process means everybody has the potential to benefit, from the very young to the elderly.

An advantage of Acupressure is that it has no side effects as do medicines and drugs.

Stress- Stress for men and women of all ages is prevalent in the workplace and in coping with everyday life.  Symptoms range from headaches, fatigue, insomnia, muscle tension, irritable bowel syndrome, indigestion and nausea.  Regular Acupressure can help these and other stress related problems.

Elderly - It is not unusual for the elderly to be suffering with such problems as mobility, arthritis, joint pain and poor circulation.  Acupressure helps with all these areas.  If a patient has had an injury or has had surgery, Acupressure can also accelerate recovery.

Acupressure and acupuncture share the same active points (also called trigger points).  Stimulation of the active points is thought to lead to increased release of endorphins.  Endorphin is a natural body painkiller.
